Read Color and Comb Program
The Read, Color & Comb Program is an engaging literacy and self-care experience that brings storytelling to life through creativity and culture. Inspired by the books It’s Time to Comb Your Hair and I Can Comb My Own Hair, this program invites children and families to explore the beauty of natural hair while building reading comprehension and confidence.
Each session features interactive read-alouds, themed discussions, and hands-on activities like coloring, their exclusive game- Place the Comb in Alia’s Hair, and art projects from It’s Time to Comb Your Hair Coloring & Activity Book. Participants learn new vocabulary, express their creativity, and discover the importance of self-love and individuality.
Designed by Tanisha Singleton Thompson and her daughters, Veriteady and Klere Kado Thompson, the Read, Color & Comb Program makes literacy fun and meaningful—connecting the joy of reading with the celebration of natural beauty.
The Healthy Hair Flair Experience
The Healthy Hair Flair Experience is a six-part, hands-on workshop series that celebrates natural beauty while promoting literacy, self-care, and confidence. Created by licensed cosmetologist Tanisha Singleton Thompson and her daughters, Veriteady and Klere Kado Thompson, each session combines fun, education, and creativity to help participants understand, love, and care for their hair.
Throughout the series, attendees explore topics such as hair health and hygiene, scalp care, protective styling, product knowledge, and self-expression. Each workshop includes engaging reading activities, demonstrations, and take-home reflections that make learning both practical and inspiring.
By blending cosmetology with literacy and self-esteem development, the Healthy Hair Flair Experience empowers participants of all ages to embrace their curls, care for their crowns, and celebrate who they are—inside and out.
Beauty & Brand Educator
Tanisha Singleton Thompson, a licensed cosmetologist and visionary Beauty Educator, leads Team Thompson Literacy alongside her daughters, Veriteady and Klere Kado Thompson — co-authors of It’s Time to Comb Your Hair and I Can Comb My Own Hair. Together, they created the Healthy Hair Flair Experience and Read, Color & Comb programs, blending beauty education, literacy, and creativity to inspire families and communities.
Through hands-on workshops, storytelling, and product knowledge sessions, the Thompsons teach children and adults how to care for their natural hair while celebrating culture, confidence, and self-expression. As Beauty and Brand Educators, they also partner with leading companies to share expert techniques, tools, and practices that make healthy hair care fun, educational, and inspiring for all ages.
